JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — The Johnstown Redevelopment Authority announced that Hanging Gardens LLC has purchased the building they had been renting.
The property sits at 108 Iron Street in Johnstown.
Hanging Gardens entered into a lease agreement with the authority for the same location in 2018, but the authority had owned the property since 2004.
The sale was finalized on Friday.
It will allow for the expansion of Hanging Gardens and will put the property back into taxation.
"So far, they were able to, with the space they had built out inside, they were able to create between 50 and 60 jobs and hopes with expansion up to 200-300 jobs,” explains Melisa Komar with the Johnstown Redevelopment Authority. “We hope the community embraces this project and we hope there are folks out there willing to work."
Komar says getting an owner for the vacant buildings encourages other companies to purchase similar properties across the city.
