Young or old, you probably know the name – Lil Uzi Vert. If you’re not familiar with the artist, chances are you’ve heard their song on the radio again. Why? Because Lil Uzi Vert is taking over the rap industry. Since his remarkable debut on the music scene, he has been considered someone to watch.
The Philadelphia native caught the public’s attention with the release of his debut single – Money Longer. Following the success of his single, he released several mixtapes including Luv Is Rage, The Perfect Luv Tape, and Lil Uzi Vert Against the World. However, his maximum success (so far) came when he collaborated with the rap group, Migos, on the hit song – Bad Et Boujee
Bad Et Boujee became an internet phenomenon and led to several viral memes with their “raindrops, drop top” lyrics. This, combined with the shoutout Donald Glover gave the song during the 2017 Golden Globes, led to its commercial success. The song peaks at No. 1, making household names Migos and Lil Uzi Vert. It was also the first number one single for the rapper and for the band.
In 2017, the rapper released his debut studio album, Luv Is Rage 2. The album was a hit, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart.

Lil Uzi Vert (real name: Symere Woods) was born on July 31, 1994. He grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He said that when he was younger, a high school friend of his, William Aston, introduced him to rapping when he heard him talking about freestyle. He approached Aston and the friend encouraged him to try it.
He adopted the name “Lil Uzi Vert” when a friend compared his punching style to that of a machine gun. An uzi is an open-breech Israeli submachine gun.
He was discovered by Don Cannon – a producer and DJ – who heard his song on the radio. Don Cannon then told DJ Drama about him and they signed the Philadelphia native band to their label – Generation Now.
The rapper has frequently stated that he is only involved in rapping as a source of income, saying he is not really into it. According to some records, he actually hates rap. He has a tattoo on his forehead which allows him to focus on his career in rap, knowing that he cannot pass any job interview with a tattoo.
In December 2016, he was arrested for a traffic violation while riding a mountain bike. He was also accused of trying to run away from the police after he lost his balance on his bike.
In May 2017, police arrested a California teenager after he threatened to shoot his high school if the rapper didn’t release his Luv is Rage 2 album. Talk about influence.
Lil Uzi Vert took to Twitter on August 8, 2017 to confirm his sexuality. The rapper admitted in his post that he is bisexual – an uncommon admission for those who are firmly committed to the hip-hop of the music industry.
However, since 2014, Lil Uzi Vert has been in a relationship with a stylist, Brittany Byrd. The couple seem to be compatible and match each other when it comes to style. They both have a very shiny hairstyle, thus signaling their personality. Brittany worked as the rapper’s stylist and was influential in other aspects of his life besides fashion.
In 2016, the couple temporarily separated, which was confirmed when the stylist tweeted “single” and the rapper released a song, Stole Your Love, where he addressed the end of their relationship. There were rumors that the official cause of the breakup was that she cheated on him although the rapper himself denied these rumors. Later, Lil Uzi Vert tweeted a photo of them with the caption, “More than friends,” confirming that they were back together.
Lil Uzi Vert currently has a net worth of $7 million which is a great start for the music industry.
With the success of his previous singles, mixtapes, tours and album – it should come as no surprise that the rapper is off to a good start financially. As long as he continues to make good music, business choices, and doesn’t get caught up in wasteful habits, his money is in good hands, with little room left for him to grow.
