Spencer and Esmes Graves - General Hospital

What did they bury? Their bodies were supposedly lost at sea so why is the ground turned up fresh?

The only thing I can think of is to put the grave marker in?

I agree. Just an area around Spencer’s headstone and the stake holding Esme’s name plate should have looked dug up if no coffin was buried. Having known some cemetery workers and worked in a cemetery office, the reason might be that the family had an empty coffin buried.
Could be that Kevin had an empty coffin buried or maybe Laura insisted on it for Esme too.

But it was the size of a coffin not just a marker. And Esme didn’t have a stone marker, just a little tin sign with her name. And Heather threw herself on top of that newly dug up ground like Esme was there, but then even said Esme’s body was in the water and she must be cold!

Sheesh! They sure bury there dead fast on GH. What the heck? Even if the body is declared lost/deceased shouldn’t they be waiting at least more then a week before putting nothing in the ground? LOL Just wondering what the actual amount of time has to pass legally before you can declare someone deceased?

This brings up a point, Soaps808. What is France’s policy on declaring someone dead from falling into the water and does it affect when the person is declared dead in his/her own country?

Alright as far as burial goes and burying a casket when there is no body there have been situations in RL where this has happened. One prime example of this was 9/11 in many cases families had no bodies of the victims so some chose to take beloved items of the person placed those in a casket then buried it, another thing that’s been done is letters or memories of the person such as pictures are buried in a casket. Yes, would’ve been nice if the show would’ve let us know what they chose to do but that wasn’t done. As for the marker situation by right both Spencer and Esme should’ve just had the sign designating the spot it was way too soon for either one to have the official tombstone. It was far more realistic when Kevin walked over to Esme’s spot where the sign was located and he informed Liz that he was having her tombstone made, Spencer already having one was just not believable at all.

I know. What is the policy to declare death in a foreign country and US. You would think longer then a week. The Cassadines really don’t need Spencers Social Security monies that fast do they?

Yes they did bury their bodies

Yes it really is too soon to have a headstone on the grave. First these need to be ordered and made. Second the ground needs to settle. before they can be installed. Both should have had the temporary plagues.

I didn’t understand the dug up graves either. I would think a headstone takes longer than a couple of days, too. I know some families will get a plot, and stone to have someplace to visit, I’d prefer, if my body wasn’t found, to have my family do something like plant a tree, put a bench in the park with my name on a plaque, donate to an animal shelter every year on the anniversary. But that’s just me.

No Uncle Martin at the gravesite or Wyndemere.

The same thing that they buried in Sonny and Jason’s graves.

Spencer’s grave could have been reserved next to his mother. There would be a marker in place with only the engraving needed. Lots of families do that. I know I did.

I think once the search and rescue became a recovery they were declared legally dead.

I didn’t think Cassadines would be buried in a public place like that. I would have thought they had a crypt or something on spoon island, like the Quartermaines.
